There has been a lot of curiosity and anticipation for the opening of Embers Ski Lodge. Just the name grabs your attention and makes you wonder . . . What is Ember’s Ski Lodge anyway? Let’s be honest, Nashville is not known for heavy snowfalls, despite the chaos that happens when the newscaster mentions the word “snow”. Yet, here we have, nestled in our 12th South neighborhood, a ski lodge.
Owners Lars Kopperud, Mike Dolan, Brett Corrieri and general manager Matt Buttell grew up taking holidays on the slopes. Wanting to bring something different and fun to Nashville, they decided to use their favorite vacation spot as the theme for their new venture. Maybe that makes you think about ski decor, thick wool sweaters, and a fireplace, but their lodge is more than a theme, it’s an experience. They took their fondest memories and combined them with what they do best — dining experience.
Upon entering, I was greeted with mountains, woods, and whiskey — Whiskey from all over the world, covered an entire wall behind the bar. With the largest selection in Nashville, Embers won’t disappoint the whiskey lovers out there. However, Embers cocktail menu is not weighted with whiskey drinks. Master mixologist Gary Hayward, who is known worldwide for his simple fresh drinks, designed their cocktail menu.
Wonderful drinks, ski lodge experience, community around the fire, outdoor deck (soon to have a second level!) — think spring in Alps. Ok, I think you get the picture, but we cannot forget about the food! Their menu is filled with a wide variety of dishes from smoked salmon spread, to Belgian frites, and savory french toast. In addition to so many delicious dishes, their menu is going to be 75% gluten free!
Embers Ski Lodge, is exactly what Matt Buttel said it would be, fun and delicious. Their focus is on you, and the experience they can bring to your day. A neighborhood bar set up to cultivate community around great food and fabulous cocktails.
